I usually only feature luxury cars, but I couldn't pass this up.

This is an immaculate 1981 DeLorean with nearly 6500 original miles. I have all original documentation, including the paperwork from the Ireland plant and the original window sticker. I am the second owner of the car. The first owner was an elderly man from Michigan who passed away a few years ago. His widow has kept the car for sentimental reasons, but had decided to part with it herself due to her advancing age.

The dash is allegedly signed by John DeLorean himself. The reason I say "allegedly" is because I have no official documentation to prove this fact, other than the word of the original owner's widow and family. The story behind the signature is that the owner of the car went to Detroit in the early 80's because John D. was to appear in court there. He was hoping for a glimpse of the man, and actually was able to talk to him a moment and asked him to sign the dash on his car. Supposedly, Mr. DeLorean answered, "I would be honored to" and went with him to his vehicle, which was parked nearby, and signed the dash. I have looked up his signature on the web and it does seem similar. Since this is all hearsay, I have not adjusted the price because of the signature; it is simply a very interesting story, and has impressed dozens of people at several car shows that we took this to! (Kids from the Back to the Future era LOVE this car!!)

When we purchased the car, it had been sitting for several years and was only started up and driven about once a year. We had a DMC specialist flown in from California, and he did a complete tuneup, oil change, installed new belts, flushed out the fuel system, and installed both power window motors, as the old ones were weak. He has built his own "Back to the Future" car and is very knowledgeable when it comes to the DeLoreans. He stated that this car is in near perfect condition. We also purchased an extra radiator for the car. It doesn't need it at this point, but you would have it just in case!

This car could definitely be a driver if you chose it to be. It is mechanically in perfect running shape. We have buffed it to a beautiful shine, so it is just one awesome car inside and out! GO TO AUCTION

The De Lorean DMC-12 is a sports car which was manufactured by the De Lorean Motor Company from 1981 through 1982. It is most commonly known as the De Lorean, as it was the only model ever produced by the company. The DMC-12 featured gull-wing doors with a brushed stainless steel body. It was famously featured in the Back to the Future trilogy.

The first prototype appeared in March 1977, and production officially began in 1981 at the DMC factory in Dunmurry, Northern Ireland. During its production, several aspects of the car were changed, such as the hood (bonnet) style, wheels and interior. At least 8,500 DMC-12s were made before production ended in 1982, and as of 2006, 6,000 are estimated to still exist.

Despite being produced in Northern Ireland, DMC-12s were primarily intended for the American market. Therefore, all of the production models were left-hand drive (designed to be driven on the right side of the road). Some of them were converted to right-hand drive by specialist mechanics in the United Kingdom, but no right-hand drive De Lorean was ever put into production, thus limiting the vehicle's popularity in the United Kingdom.
